This is not an erotic story but more of a public
notice. I have a 99 cadillac deville that I maintained myself.The car only has 80,000 miles on the motor. It gets suprisingly good mileage for a big car; mid 20's. I like the body style and think it looks ageless. The probem is with the Northstar motor. It is an all aluminun motor . Yes the block and the head. The block expands more than a cast iron block and it has anchors to hold the heads down tight. These anchors can work loose and cause what they call a blown head gasket.Not that big a deal on older cars to repair( head gasket); but very big deal on the northstar motor .Prices are ranging from $2500 to 4000 dollars to repair this problem.I feel this problem is big enough to warrent a recall or a class action law suit. GM is running from the problem and the warrenty people don't want to fix it either.This is very big problem so if you have one don't let your warrenty expire; you will have to fight to get it fixed.
Signs to look for are the egr valve will not let you pass inspection.You have lower levels of coolent in the resivior and no spots on the ground.The garage mechanic will tell you everything but the truth because they don't want to fix it. The exhaust gas evaporates the coolent as you have atiny gap in the head gasket.
So when you see that Cadillac commercial with the classy lady and she says"the question is when you step on the pedal does the car return the favor" ; the answer is no. It is sitting in the driveway unwilling to run.

I went into New York to see Steely Dan at the Beacon Theatre.I had a great time. The music was awesome and the sound was so crystal clear, you could hear every note.It was pretty cool drinking 12 yr old scotch and listening to great music.I only wish they could have played longer.I almost went to Boston to see them. Has anyone else seen their show and what did you think??
