No Snob
No Snob It’s true I do make wine as a hobby. But that in no way means that I’m a wine snob. I pretty much like all wines but I have a preference for dry reds. I like the whites in the summer and the Reds year round and the roses on special occasions. In tasting wines every person has a fairly unique palate. I may taste a wine and think one thing while you may taste the wine and think something different. I think of a wine like an individual person. They have a unique personality; there’s always something like in your wine. Build on the strengths of the wine. It’s interesting compare wines and people. I have a musician friend who thinks of personalities as instruments in an orchestra. Oh, she’s a French horn or, oh no, a saxophone player. Violinists and trumpet players are the worst (according him). Do you know people who are a like a big bold sexy red? Or a spicy Gewurtztraminer? a delicate blushing rose? Maybe has the finesse and classiness of a Sauvignon Blanc? That one person who perhaps has the flair be a Barbera on the beach. There is no point in such speculation but I find fun and interesting. So if you have a favorite wine, I will never say its the wrong wine (I might make an exception with (retsina). I’d say love your wine, make it a close friend and companion. Enjoy that wine and find more friends in the wide array of wines available. You can never have too many friends. |
