Time flys

Okay going to speed through a few months here. Get us caught up with the present. First of all we all know what phantom pains are. Well we all think we do, I thought I knew what they were. I was wrong, I did know what they were but boy did I not understand what they were. The feeling of needles stabbing my left foot is bad enough. My personal worst was when my left calf or foot would start itching like mad. How the hell do you scratch something that isn't there? I really thought I was going to lose my mind there. We'll just have to assume I made it through that with my mental capabilities all in tact. Any way, those lasted for about three months. I still get them on occasion but no where like I used to. The weirdest one is where we had a gate at the top of the stairs, every time I stepped down through is, I swear it felt like my left ankle hit the bottom of the walk way.

Toddlers are funny creatures, all full of wonder and curiosity. I had many reasons I gave my grand- when she would ask what happened. My favorite was when I told her that her mom stole it while I was sleeping and sold it. Or when I said I had left it somewhere and couldn't remember where I put it and to let that be a lesson to always put things away. Amputation is now a word in her vocabulary. She comes up to be and goes "Paw Paw I hurt my leg, I need to amputate".

Now I had always said that once I got off the road I was going to get myself back in shape. After the amputation I had even more reason to workout. So I Joined the YMCA in December and started hitting it three times a week. After my stump fully healed I added the pool into my workout and it turned into six days a week. Pool on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Weights on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. Add in the some Krav Maga on two nights a week and I've made myself one nice work out schedule. I know I've seen some progress.

Seeing that I've been a trucker for the past seventeen years, I figured finding a job as a dispatcher was my best bet. Something my years behind the road can come in handy a bit. Well I found one and tonight is my fourth night. Now I'm naturally a morning person but this job has me working 2am to 10am. This schedule I can get used to easily, it allows me to go to bed about the same time as Erica (my grand-) and with her starting pre-K in the fall I'll be home in time to pick her up. Her mother will have to drop her off. Another bonus is that I don't have to quit Krav, that was my fear, I love that class too much to want to give it up. Again, this will work nicely. Now the training schedual is another matter. 7pm to 3:30am, I just can't find a good sleep routine with this one. In life some rain must fall, isn't that right. In other words, get over it and get through it.
