I am not sure. I gave mine, then I changed it right after.

When I tried online chat help, the person asked me for my account name and password. I closed out the chat session but that's why I'm asking about it.

I've used customer support dozens of times on numerous issues.
Yes.... they need your password to verify who you are, otherwise anyone can pretend to be you.

If you you feel nervous.. change your password after you hang up your phone.

Actually... you should regularly change all your web passwords... 😊
Have fun. Speak slowly to them and try not to blow a gasket... 😎
Yep.. it's all good.

Hang up the phone? This is online chat help I'm asking about. Over the phone, I'd understand if they asked your username, but over chat, it should be obvious.

The site support blog has never asked for a password. The off shore phone support people do, but they are scripted and can't really handle actual site problems. They presume the caller's problem is "user error".

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

It is standard, I have complained because then you need to change the password, but YES, it is normal..

After having used both when I have need support - I now prefer to seek support from their website support blog page, over support via messaging in the websites help section. It seems to me that support from messaging via the websites help section will be support from outside of the US.

Support from the website support blog page seems to be support from within the US. Be clear and brief about your problem. I may be wrong, but It seems they check the support blog for new support requests during the work week.
