Having lived in Nevada, Arizona, and Florida I am a believer in AC. I can promise you that the very worst experience is when the AC goes out in your car. AC is everywhere unless the power is out--then we have screened porches here in the South. I'd rather be in the heat than in the cold.
Wow! You've lived in some hot ðŸ”Ĩ spots, but it's a dry heat, right? ðŸ˜Ū lol 😂
No thanks. I'm a pussy when it comes to extreme warmth.
I do really well in the snow, though! 👍
No AC in the car is a death wish! It's happened to me once or twice. OMG, rolling along in traffic at two miles per hour. Eee...
Porches, now THAT'S a really nice idea.
You'd be fine in the cold ; if you had a pro to dress you. It's all about being prepared, isn't it? ðŸĪ”

Ooo... yes! AC would be a must in your place.
No windows to produce a draft? ðŸĪ”
Do you have many power failures there?
Stay cool. 😎 ❗ ❗

I cannot live without AC. I hope you got your power back.
Power here, rarely goes off. JINX... uhh, lol 😂
Nope, you seem like a warm weather gal!
It's a question of adapting, isn't it? ðŸĪ”
You'd be fine in the cold. Ya ever made a snow ball? ðŸĪ”

OK, I scanned the responses and apparently no one caught this: Shiatsu is a massage, Shih Tzu is the dog. I have one, and she has never given me a massage. When the power/air conditioning goes off down here you don't do anything until it comes back on.
Really? hmmm ðŸĪ”
I had to check twice. Damn smell predict. lol 😂
Ok then, you'd win a prize if I had one to give away. I made the changes, although, I like that double meaning. Perhaps it was intentional?
A Shih Tzu? I pictured you with a German Shepard. How is that tiny dog? Doesn't bark much?
I think I'd dissolve without AC where you live.
But your car has AC, right? So you always have a place to escape into.
Thanks for the heads up. Who knew the words are spelled so similarly? ðŸĪ”

It does get hot in Minnesota - we had a week plus of temps in the 90's earlier this month (that is pretty unusual for June, though). But I don't think it's as bad here as other places further south.

Lake Superior is a two hour drive away and provides nature's air conditioning. If the climate goes to hell in a handbasket, maybe I'll move to Duluth.

Amen to that, to have sex on a beach, beat the heat anytime!

Ooo... THAT'S warm!
Hand baskets — only sold at yard sales, these days, huh? ðŸĪ”
Duluth? Really?
I shouldn't complain; with so much water to play around in here, I'm spoiled. But every once in a while, I just shrivel up.
*Hey, ya found a new friend? Good for you. *
Today is in the seventies and I can do THAT, forever. I won't become one of those old people who complains about the weather all the time. 👍

Yep. Ya got that right!
No beaches around here with THAT type of privacy. Any sand by the water in your neck of the woods? ðŸĪ”
Or the other Q would be — any ladies there willing to get grains of sand in private places? ðŸĪ”
Omg... lol 😂 ðŸ˜Ū

I'm miserable in high heat and humidity.... Which is why I spend so much time at the lake in the summer. I would have done the same thing as you, if it were too miserable for me to sleep I would have hopped in my car and took a road trip to cool down.

You've shown pictures of your lake, right? It looks really peaceful. You're lucky to live close to a beach like that.
The car was my only option!
Today it's in the 70's and that's perfect for me.
You going to the lake for the forth? ðŸĪ”

Eee... agh... I'm cringing at your Hawaiian story. Sounds rough.
I think we can live without AC here and in many parts of Canada 🍁, but there are days — when it would be nice to flip it on, no?
    You walk into strange buildings?
My gosh, you're not a repo man are ya? 😊
Dja Have a fan in your room? ðŸĪ”
No, not a ‘repo man’ but I did work previously in mortgage collections when interest rates were in the high double-digits. I don’t use a fan. I keep my window open whenever it makes sense. Last night, the fireworks ðŸ’Ĩ sounded like they were going to land on my roof!

I grew up with no AC and we had the windows open and we had the breeze coming through then we got a window unit and I slept with a fan in my bedroom. Now since I've been still going through the change the doctor tells me I cannot stand the heat I have to have AC and I've been sleeping here lately in my living room because my bedroom is so hot even with the fan on and the AC so go figure

The Light is shinning and she is lonely and waiting in the darkness.

I like watching a fireworks 🎇 show, but I find it annoying when random people keep blowing bunches of flares into the air.
Didja call the cops on them? ðŸĪ”

I CAN figure; I think the heat is the worst!
Well, only a couple of more months to go before it stops.
How are you in the cold? ðŸĪ” ðŸ”Ĩ ❗

A few years ago tornados wiped out the high voltage feeds for the city where I live. There was no damage here in the city but all the power coming in was down for six days. Luckily, it was spring time so the weather was pleasant. No power, no gas stations, and no means of keeping things cold as Ice was also at a premium.

It was actually kind of nice. I met all my neighbours who usually don't come outside. I have a gas grill and we managed to put enough stuff on ice to last for most of it (a friend I had installed an ice maker for helped with that). We had lots of company. Almost every night there was music and a small party on my deck. My girlfriend and it put a mattress on the roof one night as there was no uplighting to disturb the star show.

Then..... people started going outside the city to get gas and generators so the silence was gone. Still..... it was nice for a while.

Back in '98, we had an ice storm that knocked out power for three fricken weeks — for some. Now THAT wasn't romantic at all.

Not with the minus temps that were flourishing at the time. Mind you, I didn't have to worry about stuff in my fridge spoiling. But it was fricken cold and bleak — for a while.

Mind you, it was also dead quiet, and so peaceful.

You paint a poetic picture and a memory of how things MIGHT have been — back in the day — without AC. It sounds like you made the best of it. I get the vibe.

Strange, how people coexist during times of trouble, then go back to the way they were.

I like that roof image. 😊❗❗❗
