A winter's wish

It was a windy day. A breeze blew into a stormy cloudy overcast. A cold chill threw itself at me. Swept itself over me. I could feel it in the air. Magic was about to happen. That thing that happens once a year like some kind of wish come true. Just one day before Thanksgiving. How ironic that it should happen this way. A wish come true. The air began to stir. Our first snowfall. It was Thanksgiving morning. I woke to a blinding bright light. The sun was shining through a cold in the air. A brand New England morning had risen. The promise of our first snowfall a blanket of pure white flakes of crystalline ice piled high gently softly on the ground. I scooped up a hand full of frozen blue white powder that floated away from me into the air.
