Ex Husband, Ex Friends?

Ex Husband, Ex Friends? Why are things always awkward when you see a friend of an ex? Standing there, forced smiles, looking in every direction but at the other person, waiting for someone to break the ice and make the first comment. In my case, it's usually the other person. I was always painfully shy anyway, even without the drama. "How are you doing [secret_lade]?" "I'm good! I'm good! How are you doing?!" Forced cheerfulness. "Oh, I'm doing pretty good too!" Eyes wide, wide fake smile. Complete silence..... Cicadas are buzzing off in the distance. "Well, it was great catching up with you! Until we meet again...." dramatic hand gesture. Why am I making this into a joke?? I want to crawl into a hole and die. "It was good seeing you, too, [secret_lade]. You look good." They always sound surprised when they say that. I know my ex husband has not said one kind word about me in the 4 years since we've been divorced, I can only imagine what people think. It has taken me a long time to get back on my feet again, I left my marriage with virtually nothing. God knows my ex husband made NOTHING easy on me so I can't help but feel triumphant whenever I think about how badly he wanted me to fail and the fact that I came out on top anyway. The best revenge is living well. |

the s ecret to life is not to give anyone else control of your emotions or self image . ftw, who gives a rats ass about what some random person thinks .they don't live your life . i hated all my ex's phony shallow vapid friends , never see them , rarely see her or her new husband , kids are all in college or later ,was civil and cooperative while finishing raising them , no use fighting fixes nothing , my new wife is smart ,hot ,kind ,and humble , better choice second time lol

I'm forced to interact with my ex on a regular (4-5x/week) basis due to kids so unfortunately I'm aware of his dating life. I could't be happier now that he's dating a friend of ours from way back when we were still married and her late husband was still alive. It's tough to have to put on that happy face but things have a way of working out... at least I'd like to think so!

My third ex and I are still friends, and go out and get drinks together on occasion. My second ex and I haven't seen or spoken with each other since 1998 My first ex and I are EXACTLY like what you're talking about. We had a child together and it was a nasty custody thing. Yes, hi, my name is Debbi Gypsy..or whatever, some call me goofy, I've called myself "slut". But, today, I refer to myself as a recovering sex addict.
