Be kind to the ones that walk away.

It's a natural fact of the internet that sometimes, someone will drop off of the face of the Earth.

Maybe you find out why, and maybe you don't. Maybe it was something you did, or said, and maybe it wasn't.

When that moment comes, if that interaction was important to you, or had some seed of interest or excitement to you, it might be tough to see this as a good thing.

It is a good thing. You learn from it. Loss, even the tiniest form of loss, can be the best teacher because it creates a moment where you are in contact with a very real situation and very real awareness of a lack or broken expectation.

I think it takes kindness to deal with that. You say what you can, you do what you can, to put your best self forward even if your first reaction is much less than that.

Be kind to the ones that walk away. It will leave the fond memories and help process past the gaps of expectations.
