That man right there is showing some True Grit lol

Gotta luv the Duke. Ironically when I think of John Wayne I also think of a football player "Mad Dog" Mike Curtis who played for the Baltimore Colts back in the mid 60s to late 70s. He was a big John Wayne fan and fans used to send him John Wayne memorabilia. After he retired he admitted he got sick of reports asking him how he got "so mean" and he used to make up stories just to see what the reports would believe because they couldnt fathom he wasnt mean until he stepped out onto the football field. So I told stories of how as kids they used to see who could try to run thru brick walls or used to try to shoot out each others eyes with their BB guns lol

There was one incident when he was playing, some guy drunk of his ass hops onto the field runs and picks up the game ball as the two teams are huddling between plays and starts running with it. Mike Curtis leaves his team huddle and completely flattens the guy and walks back to the huddle. His teammates were all shocked and were like Mike what are you doing you are making us look bad.His response was that guy just broke a city ordinance and I enforced it. Never more a John Wayne move if there ever was one.

Smile - you never know who may need one

One of my all time favorites! You never heard stories of him being other than who he was. They don't make them like that anymore!

Sapiogurl replies on 5/5/2016 2:30 am:

They sure don't baby

It is great listening to his speech mannerisms, so unique. "John Wayne? That's a terrible name for a cowboy."

Sapiogurl replies on 5/5/2016 6:04 pm:

Better than his "given" name though right Golly? ha ha
