Honest With Myself A Poem

If I am honest with myself
Which is a mindset
That can be in doubt
I will know why
I have stopped
From making progress
And changing things
That I ought.

I feel that my attempts
Will be futile.
I will not measure up
To your standards
In some regards.
This is in the back
Of my mind
And it is acting
Like self sabotage.

You will never love me
You will never see
Me as worthy
It would take
Me winning the lottery
And getting a few
College degrees.

It is laughable
But not really
For this is
The harsh reality
That I have come
To admit openly
When before I just
Felt it subconsciously.
