Laughter My Panacea A Poem

Laughter My Panacea Written in 2015

Not a day
Not a hour
Not a minute
Goes by without some unease.

Do you know why?
Should I tell you my secret?
I don't want to give away everything.
But I might tell you if you are to ask me
Ask ever so delicately,
Add the words pretty please.

My unease is just a symptom
Not a disability per se
It just means something is missing.
It is a lack of well being.

But this feeling
Can I patch it with something?
Do you have some ideas
On what will make me whole?
Maybe I just need to laugh
And fill the void with a kind of silly putty?

I have been told laughter is a panacea
It can cure me of my ills
So I will accept your kind gesture
Make me laugh
Fill my soul with laughter
Use as much silly putty
That you have on hand
I long to crack up
But those cracks are harmless
They are just belly laughs.

I am selfish
To want to be amused
I know it is hard work
To keep me from feeling the doldrums
If I could pay you what that it is worth,
It would equal millions.

Laughter can be called a panacea,
Yes, laughter is like medicine.
But it has no side effects.
And its benefits are<b> enormous.</font></b>
