This Numbers Game A Poem

It's a numbers game.
One I have to play
If I am to find the one
If I am to have options.
But I hesitate.
Oh boy do I!
I let things reach
A level of do or die.
The death of a connection
At stake.
And so I schedule a date.

And when I meet
I hope my attention
Is undivided.
I put other things
Out of mind
And live in the moment.

I am present!
A gift so to speak
For I am unwrapped
From other activities
My pursuit will be
Making our time special
Letting other matters
Take a back seat.

This numbers game
Not a game at all to me
Just a way I have to be
In order to find the one
can make me happy.
Granted it may not
Last for eternity.
