Faceless masses
Faceless masses We live in an anonymous, faceless age. People can sit comfortably behind their keyboard and be anyone they want to be. Dating sites (I've tried out a few) are full of some great people, but also quite a few fake people...posting photos of celebrities, photos from magazines or other websites, photos of other people. I've done it myself on one site in particular (I guess, in hindsight, Pee Wee wasn't such a good choice...) so I can relate. However, when people don't post a pic at all, is that just as terrible as posting a fake photo and trying to pass it of as yourself, even when the "jig is up"? Doing it for fun is one thing, doing it and trying, vainly, to keep up the charade is another and speaks volumes about the type of person you may be in reality. I have an assortment of photos on here......some quite revealing.......but not one face pic. I reserve those for after I get to talking to someone and get to trust them with my privacy and discretion. Couples Dating is quite different than posting photos on Match, eHarmony, Zoosk or Plenty of Fish. A huge portion of the population on here are looking for one thing...and that's not always a relationship. So maybe it's okay to save the mugshots for after you've made a connection you're comfortable with but remember, any pic is usually better than none and goes a long way in getting you noticed. We're all visual creatures otherwise we'd be reading the classifieds. |
