Writing

Few people bother to read or write novels these days. I have a friend who has written and self published about seven books. He spends about six months researching and writing each one. Mostly they are historical fiction about the WWII era.

He is an ok writer, but not fabulous. His books don't sell many copies. I him that he cannot retire on his royalties. Turns out he makes less than minimum wage based on the time and effort he expends.

I write songs, that usually take me about an hour to write. Another friend adds the music and changes the words to fit the tune. I have written about 400 songs I would guess.

The nice thing about songs is that they are easy and quick to write, for me, and I do not feel bad wasting only a little time on the effort. If I am going to not get paid, I might as well not work too long on the project.... Money is not everything, but it does come in handy for paying for stuff.

I write poetry, songs, and novels.
I have to admit, I don't do it for financial support but for my sanity.

I may not do right, but I do write,
I have bliss, joy, and happiness in my life,

I do get paid to write, as an attorney. I write letters, briefs, legal motions and forms. I try to keep those short and concise. That is why they are called briefs.
