REVENGE

REVENGE?

I'm not a person who seeks revenge for the injustices that have happened to me during my lifetime.

The reason I bring this up in this posting is because there is still fallout from the invasion of my property by the cops a couple of weeks ago...

The sheriff's deputies were in pursuit of a young man who'd been stealing from cabins in this area for a few weeks... As crazy as it seems, this thief had been living in a locked cabin 700 feet up a slight hill from my place, and I had no idea at all that he was there-- even though I'd walked up to that cabin every morning and night and checked it out for any signs of a breakin.

The cabin the thief had been staying in has three doors, and all three doors have double locks on them.. All three doors have good deadbolt locks as well as solid entry locks. The cabin had NOT been broken in. Thus, my reasoning is, the guy had keys to this cabin he'd been hiding in, and when I came up and shook all the doors to make sure they were locked, and checked the windows for signs of a breakin, the thief must have been completely quite inside.

This cabin the burglar had been living in for a few days, or perhaps a week, is in very good shape, has electricity, but only an outhouse. Like my place it has no water to it. There is a lock on the outhouse, and on the electric meter, and the guy had been using a wastepaper basket inside the cabin as a toilet--- Ugh!-- and not using any electical power.
The guy must have had a set of entrance keys to the door facing away from my place, but not any keys to the outhouse or the electrical meter.

I won't rehash the entire story here. As most stories go, it's very convoluted. The few of you guys who have a little interest in the way the entire thing went down, with MY place being thoroughly searched by the cops, can scroll down on my blog where a couple of my posts tell the whole story...

You all know I like to write a lot, but I also like to talk even more than I like to write! Marisol of course was the first person I told the whole story to. She was in L.A.-- thank goodness-- when the cops broke in. I called her that evening and when she got back home, she was pretty pissed at the cops even though they really hadn't broken anything, or hurt me or my little female collie.

So, my friendly readers, here's finally the point to this post.

Most of the people I've told the story to--and there have been a bunch. Most of the people I've told the story to are mad at the cops, and also mad at the guy who owns the cabin above me.

Almost everyone agrees that the guy who owns the cabin above me must have had some connection to the thief, otherwise how did the thief get keys to it, and how did the thief know the cabin was empty?

My thought is just to let the whole incident go, and hang it up to an interesting experience...

How would you feel if this happened to you? Would you want to get back at the cops? Would you want to get back at the people who own the cabin the burglar was staying in for putting M. and me, and our little in danger?

Well, sweet VM, all the summers I've spent here seem to merge into one another... this will be a kind of bench mark for my memory of the summer of "2013" .. I hope it will be a "one of a kind", and not be something that starts happening out here like "hot pursuits" keep happening in Los Angeles... Hot pursuits are an easy way for police to abuse their power, and storm into any place where they are simply curious. Too many cases of innocent people being mistakenly shot by these intrusions into private property seem to be happening too often in Southern California... Thank you for your comment VM,I truly appreciate your input. xoxo david

One thing I found out was that the "obstacle course" I laid out with some old pieces of machinery and a couple of broken desk chairs, slowed down the deputies long enough for me to put on a pair of shorts and a shirt so I wasn't totally nude as I usually am, lol.

Yes, we've decided to just let it drop. M. keeps saying she wishes she'd been here but I'm glad she wasn't. Some of those young deputies were too nice looking! lol.. thanks, HeartCollector for your always welcome comments.. xoxo david

What's to be gained, by "getting back at the cops"? And how would you even do that? Call it to someone else's (the authorities?) attention?

And end up with the cops pissed at you?

If you know that the thief had keys to let himself into the cabin, don't you think the police (and prosecutor) also know that?

I think you should just let it go.
Thanks Famaopls, that's exactly the way we feel, too. xoxo david
