T.G.I.F It

In No Particular Order . . .

It’s hard to believe we’ve chiseled away almost an entire year again. At this writing there are only eleven shopping days until Christmas. This is one Holiday I dread until it’s over. I dislike the whole idea and the pressure of gift giving to everyone and their brothers but the TV advertisers continually tell us it’s ‘the way’. I certainly don’t need anything that isn’t out of financial reach for most and I seriously don’t think most others do either. A kind word and a smile both cost nothing and are probably the most appreciated but Target and Wal-Mart can’t market those. I do like to get the little ones things though, but then I do that all year long even without a holiday.

It’s still hard on my boys during Christmas without their Mom around. I know how much they miss her and I too miss her dreadfully. I was talking to my youngest the other night and he mentioned how different it was now compared to the way it used to be. He said something I’ll never forget, “Mom was like our sun and we all orbited around her.” His words left us both silent. Truer sentiments have never been spoken. I don’t think some things can ever be gotten over completely; you just learn to live with them every day. I’m also not convinced some things get easier with time; they only seem farther away.

My grandson, at ten months old, was kicked out of his daycare for being a ‘troublesome and uncontrollable ’. It seems most 9 and 10 month olds will sit and play in bouncy seat all day but the Little Prince needs and wants his freedom. Have hand and knees, will travel. Someone actually had to watch him and I guess that wasn’t going to happen. I was watching the little ones one night this last week and I remembered too late not to fill with French fries, red Cool-aid and then shake thoroughly. Somewhere between the nerf arrows, Fe Fi Fo Fum and Knick Knack Patty Whack Give the a Bone, the Princess threw up ... no matter if it is your fault or how much you love them it’s still really disgusting trying to get your vomit covered sweatshirt off over your head ... without gagging ... again.

I got an exceptionally nice letter from a this morning stating how pleased they were with both me and my staff and the ‘professionalism that was exhibited’. Huh, I have staff ... and it’s not an infection ... go figure. I posted it on the bulletin board, gave all the guys a warm fuzzy ... in a manly kind of way of course ... and ordered everyone lunch from Pizza Hut. I found out that a P’zone is over 1 lb. of pizza to love and is more than I can do in a single sitting. I can remember the time when my normal meal from McDonald’s consisted of two Big Mac’s, two large fries, two chocolate shakes and a hot apple pie ... the benefits of youth and days gone by ... ***sigh***

I’m glad the week is finally drawing to a close; I’m so very tired. I sent my over worked ‘staff’ home early and I will soon head out the door myself. I think I will take a nap as soon as I get home or as soon I figure out what’s wrong with the dyer ... I don’t want or need a disgruntled laundry lady on my hands ... I want her very happy with me. There may be something more up my sleeve than just my arm. No one has said, so I’m not sure if I will be watching the grandkids this weekend or not ... or if they will be watching me. It’s always a crapshoot there. But I do have size on my side which is usually a plus. lol

Have you ever felt like you’ve talked a lot and have said absolutely nothing ? I think I’ve kind of rambled here but this has been my week in a nutshell. I hope your week has been good and you all have a tremendously fabulous weekend! Be good if you can and be careful if you can’t and I will be catching up with everyone as soon as I can.

When I say ‘Thanks for taking the time and making the effort’, I really do mean it. Have a great one!

It really sucks when a child can't be a child anymore...you're 10 months old, grow up and sit still already....

Thanks Shy **hugs**

I LOVE your rambling, H! After all...life is what it is, my friend! I've never understood daycares that do that sort of thing! How on earth can a 10 month old be troublesome and uncontrollable???????????? He's a BABY for heavens sake. I so hope a daycare can be found that truly CARES for the little one. As for Christmas....we have pared it down to practically nothing in the gift giving department....and just enjoy being with the people we love. Have a great one, H!

Thank you Sexy...you are so very right, life is what it is. They have found a day care just down the street from me where she thinks he is just the most adorable child...and I can't argue with that!

It sounds like you either need more days in your week, or less stuff going on.

If given the choice, I'll opt for more days in my week...

Aaw! Grampa!

Christmas for me is spending precious time with the family, over eating/drinking, vomit and all! Forget all this commercial crap and just enjoy the two weeks holiday.

Just give me a smile and hug and kiss and thats all I need to know that I am loved, pity it can't be wrapped because it would make the best chrismas gift I ever had!

If I could find a way to wrap those things, that would be what you would be getting from me...

I love the way you ramble, so you may do it at any time. Besides, even when you aren't saying much, you say a lot.

Happy holidays, my friend! Enjoy your family and take some time to rest!
