Hanson Covington Show 4/17/08

Let's see if my memory is still good for this. I took off work the day before the Covington show cause we were leaving at like 10 pm and I knew if I worked I wouldn't be able to come home and sleep and wake up and get ready. I just wouldn't have enough time. I was planning on waking up in the morning and then going back to sleep till around 5 pm. Well I slept till 12:30 pm and got up and I just couldn't go back to sleep so I was up for over 36 hours by the time it was all said and done.

So I get ready and Terri comes to get me at 9 pm and we load my stuff in her car and go to Sheetz, I did have a bf at the time and I called him and said if he wanted to see me before I left to come down to Sheetz while we got food and all. He did. It was cool. We're not longer together though. It lasted all of 16 days. He moved back to Baltimore, MD with his family and didn't want to do the long distance thing. Oh well.

So we get on the road about 10 pm. Robb calls me around 3:30 am and asks where we were and that he was going by the venue to prove to us that no one was camping out and low and behold he said there were around 10 people there. lol I told him so but he wouldn't believe me. So we get close to the venue around 4:45 am and the road splits and we're like uh oh mapquest says nothing about this. I was almost sure which way we should take but we pulled over and I called Robb just to be sure. He told us where to go and he met us in a Kroger parking lot. Which was technically out of the way but it was a good thing anyway cause we needed to go to the restroom and no places opened up for a few hours around the venue. When we first got to the parking lot I wasn't sure what to do with him. I mean last time I'd seen him I was able to hold his hand and kiss him and all and now I was afraid to even touch him. he finally was like "come here" and pulls me into a hug. Which to me was kind of awkward.

Moving on, so he has us follow him to the venue and then we follow him around till he finds us a place to park in a parking garagae around the corner from the venue, so it wasn't too far to walk when we needed to take stuff to and from the car. He leaves us saying he'd be back later. We get our stuff and get in line at about 5:30 am. We were in the 30s I think. The day went pretty fast. We met some cool people. The girl in front of us kept leaving and coming back. She had this guy with her that she met at a gas station and he was kind of drunk but he was alot of fun. He took a pic of the fans camping out in front of us and I took a pic of him taking a pic of them. So I got his butt and I was laughing saying nice butt. he said he played soccer and that's where he got it from. haha So everytime we'd talk about his butt he'd say "I play soccer" so I called him soccer butt guy. His real name is Eric. Which reminds me of the prince from the little mermaid. lol

So later in the morning I walk with him to a place to get us all something to eat and he said he'd pay for all of us and he order like $25 worth of food and then the lady says she doesn't accept credit cards and he didn't have cash, so I had to pay for it. He said he'd pay me back. He gave me his cell number which was real cause I called it then and there and his phone rang. I've been buisy with the tour and all but I did call him a few days before the last 2 shows and he got back to me saying he'd send the money to me and I should get it by the end of last week or early this week. So I'm starting to get worried. I'm not gonna call him again yet but if I don't get it by mid next week then I will be calling again. I don't care if he pays me back for my part of it, but I wasn't the one who volunteered to pay for everyone (4 people).

He never went to the show either, he literally just hung out with us in the morning and when he left around 11 am to get a nap he didn't come back. I didn't expect him to. Well he came back to give me my money back but we had went to the hotel after the walk to check in and to freshen up. More about that later.

Valerie comes around 10 in the morning I think. It was awesome to finally meet her after a month talking online and on the phone!

Hanson's tour bus drives by about 1 pm and no one even notices right away. lol I did a doubletake and was like Oh tour bus, cool. haha Then everyone freaks and runs around the back. Well except for a few fans in the front, including the group I was with.

The cops were forbidding Hanson to do the walk. Which out of 50some towns up to the point this was the only one that had this problem. There may have been one other town, but that's still ridiculous. They fined the walk organizer and he has to come back for a hearing. How outrageous is that?! It's like wow you cops are just so awesome for forbidding is not to walk for good cause. (Aids)

So the walk started a little after 3 pm. There were 3 sets of doors and we thought Hanson would come out the set that had the least amount of fans, but they came out another set. I wanted to talk to show Tay and Zac my sign, especially Zac cause he takes pics and video. So I had to dodge through fans. I caught up to Zac first and asked him if he liked my sign and he looked at it and said it was cool then looked away, then he did a doubletake and looked back and was like "Oh that is cool, hold it up" and he took a pic of it! Then I caught up with Tay, which is no small feat and had to wait for this girl who had glued herself to his hip. She finally detached herself and I got to ask Tay what I wanted to. Back in December at Buffalo he said we were all a great choir and we should follow them around in tour buses. lol So when I talked to Tay in Covington I was like "I was at the Buffalo show last December" He said "that's cool" and I said "You remember how you said we were a great choir?: he was like "yeah?" I said "where's our tour bus? He totally cracked up and Terri has it all on video! He never answered me, he just started talking on his megaphone, but he was smiling the whole time. lol He didn't know what to say. It's cool I made him laugh and caught him offguard in a good way.

So I dropped back a bit. At the halfway point I got behind them and took some pics. I mean Zac was close enough I could have reached less than an arm's length away and touched him. So he started moving around the crowd and after a few minutes I did too cause I wanted more than back of their heads pics.

On the way back after the halfway point I caught up to Tay again and asked if they could play "Yearbook" that night cause my friend Tiffany who couldn't be there was gonna be on my cell during the show. He said it was a good possibility. Which they never did play it. But anyway after I asked him that another girl was like "Oh I wanna hear My Own Sweet Time" and Tay's like that's not gonna happen. lol

After the walk I asked Robb if he could take us to the hotel cause the roads were so complicated and we were afraid of getting lost. Plus since we parked in a parking garage we didn't want to lose our spot and have to pay for parking there twice. So he picks us up at the parking garage and then we pick up Valerie by her car in front of the venue. It was funny cause the traffic was heavy and she literally has to jump in the back of ther car and sit on a bunch of stuff cause Robb's car is a mess. He takes us to the hotel and he watches tv while we wash our feet off cause we walked barefoot for once and freshened up. I will never walk barefoot again. My feet were all torn up and I couldn't walk without it hurting for like 3 days.

So we get back to the venue around 6 pm and the doors didn't open till 7 so we thought we'd be fine but the venue had already lined everyone up. Oh earlier in the day the venue passed around a clipboard for us to put our names with what number in line we were. So we were afraid the venue wouldn't let us in, but when we walked up to a security guard he was like "let me guess you have numbers" He made everyone back up and let us get in where we were supposed to.

One thing I forgot to say was all day the cops had been harrassing everyone in line, even though the venue had no problem with us and the venue also owned most of the shops along the street. We also weren't blocking any doorways or anything. Then when we were in line before the doors opened, the venue had divider things and had like numbers 1-20 in one line and so on. The cops were like move over toward the venue and we're like how you dumbasses?! Seriously, didn't they have anything better to do than harrass people who were bringing business to their sorry town. It's nice to know the kind of cops that town has. Plus there was this meter guy on a bike who kept flirting with fans in line all day. We were finally like go the fuck away!

They finally let us in a little after 7 pm. I ended up 4th row, which wasn't bad. The opening band Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers were amazing! It was the first time I'd seen them and I wasn't too sure of their music when I heard it online. But they put on an amazing show. They did this songs mix that was hilarious. They sang a few lines of a bunch of songs from the 80s and 90s. Like "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and "I'm Bringin Sexy Back" etc. I loved it!

Here's their setlist:

1. Sweet Sophia
2. Maria
3. 4th of July
4. Sweetest Goodbye
5. Start the Day Early
6. Bus Song
7. Such a Way
8. Days
9. Fat Bottom Girls

They had come on at 8:30 pm and finished by 9 and Hanson came on about 9:30. Which is early for them. They played 2 rare songs "Joy To The World" and "Long Way To The Top" Beyond that the setlist wasn't amazing, but still an awesome show. The only other bad thing is it was short. Usually they play around 22 songs, but this one was 19.

Here's their setlist:

1. Great Divide
2. Been There Before
3. Can't Stop
4. Minute Without You
5. Crazy Beautiful
6. Hole In My Life

Acoustic Set:
7. This Time Around
8. Go
9. Mmmbop
10. The Walk

11. Blue Sky
12. If Only
13. Running Man
14. Joy To The World
15. Watch Over Me
16. Hey

17. Rock N Roll Razorblade
18. Something Going Round

encore:
19. long way to the top

The encore was so amazing. Zac was headbanging and the Sixers came out and performed with Hanson and it was just so much fun!

The only other bad thing about the show was the security guard in front of us was such a dick. They said no flashes, but there were people around us taking flashes, but whenever Terri and me tried that he bitched at us and threatened to take our cams away. I was like you take my cam away and whether I get it back or not you're giving me $100!
Then about a quarter of the way through the show he brings his gf and her friends up front! They did not camp out all day! All of us around them were pissed and he was like get over it, it's general admission. But you don't mess with Hanson fans. He didn't take our warning serious. The girl in front of me was so mad that when she was jumping and clapping and all she kept hitting the security guard and his gf and he couldn't do anything cause he couldn't prove she was doing it on purpose! lol
I was so pissed though about all this. I said I was gonna punch him if he keeps it up. The girl in front of me said go ahead. The security guard was listening to us the whole time and I looked right at him and said "No he's not worth getting kicked out of a Hanson concert" and he said I wouldn't, only if I tried to get backstage. I said "Oh don't worry I'm not that stupid, but I will have my revenge" He didn't believe me. Well, he should have. Like I said don't mess with a Hanson fan.

See, Robb knows the owner of the venue and I told Robb about this security guard. Robb talked to the venue owner about it. Apparently there had already been 4 complaints before me and I made 5. Plus this guard had brought his gf up front before twice and he'd been warned. He abused his position and well now he doesn't have a job there anymore and cause he was fired from there he can't get a job at Bogart's which is another venue near there.

Oh and plus I win anyway with the pictures. Cause even though my camera sucks with no flash, I took video, right in front of that idiot's face and he didn't even realize it. Then I screencaptured the videos.

After the show I went to Hanson' merch booth and waited in line about 20 minutes and bought the Georgia shirt, which fits me awesome! Also bought guitar picks, 2 posters, and I think there was something else but I can't remember.

Then I went over to The Sixers' merch table and bought their 2 most recent albums, which are really good.

So then we got Robb to lead us back to the hotel. I asked him if I could get a hug cause most likely I'd never see him again. He gave me a hug and we talked and I got tears in my eyes because no matter how much he hurt me, I still was gonna miss him. He took my hands in his and was like don't cry. Which I didn't and definitely didn't want to. So he said he'd take me on a short tour of Cinci if I wanted to go since I wouldn't be back for awhile. Terri was tired and honestly I was kind of tired too but I wanted to spend a little more time with him. So she went up up to the room and he took me on a short tour. Towards the end I started getting really sleepy. To the point that my eyes were so heavy that everytime I blinked they stayed closed until I pried them open. He started driving back to the hotel and he put his arm around me and I leaned on him. Yes I know I shouldn't have, he has a gf, but I figured what the hell. I'll never see him again, I might as well enjoy this one last time of being close to him. So we get back to the hotel and I grab something I needed and I showed him my sign from earlier in the day. He said he may not like Hanson but when they do something like that it makes him respect them, so that was cool.

By this point, remember by feet were torn up from the walk and I could barely walk. He put an arm around my waist and helped me up to the room. Not sure I would've made it without his help. So I hugged him one last time at the door to my room and we kind of just stood there and stared at each other. Then before I realized he was gonna do it he leans down and kisses me really quick. I was so dazed. I said "I don't think your gf would like that" He said they'd been fighting alot and he didn't think they'd last much longer. I said well I couldn't not say I wasn't happy about that. Which fast forward to now, they're still together and seem to be fine. But honestly I'm ok now. I have closure now. I got to see him one last time and really got to say goodbye. I think that's why I'm finally able to move on.

So I go in my room and get ready for bed in the dark haha and pretty much pass out on the bed at about 1:30 am. We got up at 8:30 in the morning and got ready and went down for breakfast, which was really good. We made it back home by 6:30 pm.

It was a pretty cool trip, definitely interesting.

I sent an Angel to watch over you last night, it returned in a hurry. I asked why, it said "Angels can't watch porn." Thanks for fucking traumatizing my fucking Angel!

Don't bother trying to figure me out. Not even the little voices in my head understand me. It's pointless!
