AAAAAARRRGGGHHH Im getting addicted...LOL
AAAAAARRRGGGHHH Im getting addicted...LOL Damn this BLOGLAND...its too addictive...lol. I am back. Am in a kinda weird mood...a lil frustrated...a lil pensive...and a lil excited. Well had to tell my poor sub its not going to be on tonite...yeah yeah im a sad sod...too oversome with pain...to enjoy him...alas my loss. On the other hand I feel its better this way. I would rather wait till im better rather than give my half hearted attention, would not be fair to him or to me. Excited coz next week looks like a very exciting week...i just hope i will recover by then.I will be on hols...fucking need the break...lol...too much stress. It will be so good to just lay back for once and not do anything. Even going for a holiday can be a stressful thing...so this time...its PURE relaxation at home. Does the festive season get u down the way it does me? I c many people feeling blue during the festive season. I wonder why sometimes. Its a time for joy and celebration...esp with our families..and yet for some silly reason...one ends up feeling all alone...now why is this so? I do remember the times when i was a ..Diwali(im a Sikh) was such a joyous occassion...with the family all coming together to celebrate...together with friends. Mum used to cook such delicious food and there were loads of cakes and cookies to be enjoyed. Everyone used to all gather at my home for lunch...it was a case of food and drinks and loads of chatting till late evening...with the running around playing...aaaaah such bliss. Then in the evening we all went over to an uncle's place and carried on the merriment there...till the wee hours of the morning. The fireworks...the laughter...the drinking(yes yes...we were all drunkards..lol)...there was so much of joy and love in the air. Alas those days r gone...we no longer have such massive celebrations...everyone is so busy with their own lives to be bothered...sigh. The world has changed...for the worse...family unity is slowly but surely fading away.I want to recapture those fun days...even if its for just 1 day. We will all be meeting for dinner in my sister's place and my brother will be bringing along his new gf...hehe...the poor woman...to finally meet our crazy family...she is in for a culture shock..haha. But hey...she needs to find out about us sooner or later...at least this way she can decide if she wants to come into this lunatic family or not...lol. Oh hell...just realised i have been rambling on...lol. One last thing...to all who will be celebrating Diwali or Hari Raya....i wish u all a damn good one...hehe. Remember to spend it with the ones u love...both family and friends And to all my darling friends...I will try to have a Diwali dinner at my place(no promises..lol...i said try )...so look out for any sms from me..haha. HAPPY DIWALI AND HAPPY HARI RAYA TO ALL! GOD BLESS! |

Hiya DM and Happy Diwali. And a very meaty blog too. I have a hunch that most other people harbour very similar feelings. My theory about this (in case anyone out there is really interested)is partly simple nostalgia but also I think we all appreciated the simple things in life when we were poor. These days we enjoy so many "goodies" every day that they are no longer appreciated when the big occassion comes along. In my case I remember Xmas as a kid in the dark, dingy, freezing cold North of England back in the 50's and 60's. I was the eldest of 7 kids and my father had to feed us all on about 10 pounds a week. Would you believe that in those days a roasted chicken was a special treat we only had for xmas lunch. I think those were the days before battery chickens and they were just too expensive to have even for Sunday lunch. I remember one year my dad was working at an old manor house just before Xmas and the gamekeeper gave him a brace of pheasants to bring home. Mind you I dont think my mother was very impressed cos she had to spend her Xmas eve plucking out the feathers. I noticed when I spent a few months back in England back in 1987 that the cheapest meat you can buy there was turkey thanks to this fella Bernard what's'isname in Norfolk. You buy big chunks of frozen turkey from the supermarket and turn it into brilliant curry. I suppose anything tastes wonderful with a few spoonfuls of ground chillies, cumin and ginger thrown into the pot. But in 1967 you would have to be bloody rich to have a roast turkey for Xmas lunch. Hell but who needed roast turkey when you had chocolates, fruit gums, fruit pies, cakes, xmas pud and roasted chestnuts. But all the other things you talk about also bring back my own memories. Xmas at home was a real treat. Funny thing also but the taste of cheap sherry still reminds me of those days. Perhaps we have come a long way. These days, if I see anything nice in Cold Storage I simply buy it and eat it (or drink it). Not any wonder that I mirror you thoughts of divali. Anyhow DM you can't fool me. I am sure that you are having a ball! Sir Teezalot WAR IS ABSURD

Happy diwali dear. Reading your blog brought back memories of my childhood too where we used to have huge parties on diwali. It was really fun with the whole family and friends etc, and we would go on until the wee hours of the morning, eating drinking and singing. Oh well those were the days, but I guess life goes on no and changes will take place. Have a wonderful holiday
