Music.

Music. I love it, but I totally lack the head for it. The music in my soul isn’t necessarily what’s on the radio (The songs I sing for sure aren’t!) I almost never remember Artists, Titles, Genre’s. This post is partially in response to another blogger’s post from weeks ago (sorry, I don’t have a link), but mostly… I finally have a list for my own record.

Here’s a partial list of my favorite songs of the moment (as I could find them). Those that resonate with me, that make me dance. Or remind me of somebody dear to my heart. Or that I want to learn to play. Or that are in my “Happy Box”

What are some of your favorite songs, Artists, or genre’s?

Random Songs:

American Young - "Love Is War"
Paul Simon - You Can Call Me Al
Bo Deans-Fadeaway
Bo Deans – Idaho
Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know
Gregg Allman- I'm No Angel
ABBA - Mamma Mia*
Carrie Underwood - Blown Away
Titiyo - Come Along
Don McLean- American Pie
Sting - Desert Rose
Rusted Root - Send Me On My Way
Jakob Dylan - Something Good This Way Comes
Train - Drive By
Billy Joel - You May Be Right
"Weird Al" Yankovic - White & Nerdy
Sesame Street- MANAMANA
Kermit the Frog - Rainbow Connection
The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)

Unusual:

A Chanter M'er, a medieval melody by Beatriz, Comtessa de Dia written in about 1180.
Bolero - Ravel
Sheila Chandra-Ever So Lonely
Francesca Gagnon (Cirque du Soleil) – Alegria

In General:

Ricky Nelson
Bagpipes
Ethnic Music of dozens of varieties (includes Latin Pop, Celtic, Salsa Dancing music, etc)
Ballads**

Yes: Bagpipes get their own category

The radio stations programmed in my car:

Old Country (on the way to work. “Commando Wednesday” is their fault)
70’s, 80’s, 90’s rock (On my way home from work)
Classical
KYRS Thin Air Community Radio (you can find it online – plays EVERYthing. Eventually. But not the “typical” everything)
Classic Rock (it’s apparently pre-programmed and will never go away)

* do NOT let me watch the movie Mamma Mia or listen to the song before bed. I will be awake all night trying to sleep but wiggling to the music in my head. Ditto with Dirty Dancing and “I Had the Time of my Life”

** all the Heavy Metal and Death Metal bands I don’t listen to? Love their Ballads.

Where I used to live they had Bagpipe lessons at the college during summer. And the instructor would hang out at the local bar (1/2 block from my parents house) and play on the corner from 9 or 10pm or so. He'd play, and now and then somebody would bring him a drink. It was like my very own personal lullaby every night Of course I had to listen to my mom curse the playing every night lol... she wasn't a fan.

I'm relieved to hear that! Writing this was painful. I know there are tons of songs I love and missed. Some possibly bigger favorites. All I could think after I posted is "Man, my list probably sucks" lol.

I know... I love Sting/The Police, ABBA, etc in general too. And there are so many I've skipped over or missed. I essentially looked on my YouTube "listened to" list lol. If I remembered my login to Spotify or Pandora... I'd have a much better list. Especially as I'm following friends that listen to stuff I love too but never find on my own.

I love drums too but more... hmm. Dumbek and bodhran type drums. I know somebody that played a war song on a Bodhran... the beat, her voice... I've been in love with the bodhran ever since.

oops.. I think I am replying twice now. Seems I had 2 windows open.
