Super Snack Sneak
Super Snack Sneak I went to visit my bestest best friend in prison this past weekend. First time I had been there since I got sick. First time I was faced with the metal detector since I got my pacemaker. My doctors told me to make sure I carry my card with me if I am in a situation involving a metal detector since I would set it off........at the prison they said I could NOT go through the metal detector with a pacemaker. Hmmmmmm.......more proof of how little doctors actually share with their patients. On the way back home I was getting pretty darn hungry having eaten nothing up to that point. Well, with all the FOOD POLICE in my house ( and boyfriend) I thought I would be all sneaky - like and slip in to the Chinese restaurant undetected and just make sure it was all gone before the old man got home. Half of Trailer Towne was there! OMG! I was SO busted! Well, Chinese food is most certainly not on the list of accepted foods for purp, but in my defense I did choose "Chicken and Mushrooms" on rice which is a smidge better than my old fave "General Tso's Chicken" It is! Really! Hey! The chicken is not breaded or deep fried. I swear I could go to ten places and never see a soul I know but step foot in the forbidden Chinese restaurant and BAM! If that were not bad enough my layed it on thick last night asking me if I was "listening" when that commercial came on TV where the guy says he wishes he would have done more about his cholesterol............. P.S. Guilt did NOT make the food taste bad! So there! What evil Chinese food is your fave? |

Always depends on where we go. Buffet fave is Five Peppered Chicken and gotta have lots of crab cheese rangoons! When we order take-out, I love spicy Szechwan Chicken with Peanuts or Cashew Chicken with chicken fried rice the best.

Whenever I do a Chinese buffet, I get a little bit of everything. I rarely go out for Chinese, though. I eat Vietnamese all the time, however--at least 2 to 4 times a week. I get a variety of things. The four things I get the most are the vermicelli bun with grilled chicken, pan-fried squid with jalapenos, a Vietnamese grilled chicken sandwich with a variety of hot peppers and fried eggplant. I eat Indian food--my second favorite--about twice a month to once a week. Again, it's the buffet, so a variety. What I don't eat at all are dairy products. I try to minimize eating red meat (I'll only eat grass fed beef). Good for you on minimizing the red meat.

I like vegetable stir fry. I am always queesy about meat options at oriental places after I found out that the chef at a local place had frozen rats and skinned cats in the kitchen. There are no animals that look like vegetables.

Yummy! Crab rangoons..........mmmmmm........but, I don't have those any more.

I second Vern, now I have a craving! I love sesame chicken, spring rolls (they do seem lighter than regular egg rolls if that matters), and CRAB RANGOON but only if they don't make it sweetlike they tend to do - just the cream cheese/krab mixture. I can eat a whole appetizer myself of those. nomnomnom.... Oh yeah, shame on you!

I hear ya sister! I used to eat Chinese food once/week now it is like once avery month or two and I try to make better choices but I do realize there is MSG in every dish they make. My daughter saked me "would you rather I just didn't care what happened to you?" and I sadi "YES!" LOL Kidding of course.

I like so much of Chinese food it is hard to pick just one. hot and sour soup Mongolian stir fry Happy Family (beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, scallops and vegetables) lo mein Mongolian Beef (if not too spicy) Won Ton Soup Cashew Chicken Moo Goo Gai Pan Moo Shu Pork And this is why I end up in Chinese buffets so often. LOL Actually the guilt makes it taste better, doesn't it? I used to have Chinese once/week but now it is only once every month or two and I have chosen a wee bit different food. Back in the good ole days I LOVED General Tso's, Mongolian Beef, Hunan Chicken, and Hot and Sour Soup. Mmmmmmmm....... a tall order of guilt please.......LOL tastes good, eh?

I hear ya. I don't ever use soy sauce but there is MSG in the sauce of nearly every dish they make. Beef, mushrooms, and snow peas sounds yummy! LOL.......sorry to induce an evil Chinese food craving!
